許巧穎(President of the Department in 2015)

After passing the first stage of Yishou materials after taking the test in the senior year of high school, I was actually at a loss. I still didn’t understand a lot about this department! It wasn't until I really started preparing for the interview, and had been carefully researching the relevant content, and talking with the teacher during the interview, that I really understood the material department and determined that this was my goal.

After I started studying, most of the subjects in the first grade were extended from high school. Compared with the Chinese textbooks in high school, the original text was a bit more difficult to read. The only difference was that it was similar to high school. The difference is that Introduction to Materials Science starts from the beginning! I am very grateful to Professor Chen Guoju for his careful teaching, which gave me a good start on the material path and laid a solid foundation!

As I reach my sophomore year, my classwork is getting heavier, and every subject is crucial! In addition, I also participated in the orientation camp held by the department. At that time, I felt very tired from practicing the camp every day, but there was a force pushing me forward, and that was cohesion! Everyone who went to the orientation camp, whether it was for the camp or schoolwork, cheered each other up and gave guidance on schoolwork. Whether it was the care of the seniors to the younger students or the help between peers, it was all for us who were tired at the time. Great help!

Some people say: "The most beautiful scenery in Taiwan is the people!" Then I must say, I-Shou materials are really beautiful! The teacher's concern for the students and the help from the senior sister to the younger students make me not afraid even if I encounter setbacks!
