When I was choosing my application at the university, I saw the Department of Materials among the many choices. After taking the initiative to get to know the Department of Materials, I found that I could learn a wide range of professional knowledge. There are also very good career prospects in the future. After looking at the school environment, I chose to study in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at I-Shou University. In the process of studying in college, I think the most important thing is to set goals, such as learning sufficient professional knowledge, accumulating experimental experience, and getting admitted to an ideal graduate school. Under the leadership of professors in the department, I began to read original books and learn knowledge in the material field. The process of asking professors also made us full of gains and gradually enabled us to master the basis of professional knowledge. In the process of exploration and after getting to know each laboratory, find the direction of special research.

In my freshman year, I entered the thin film laboratory led by Professor Chen Guoju. I am very grateful to my professor for guiding me to write a research proposal for a junior college student of the Ministry of Science and Technology when I was a sophomore. Under the careful guidance of the professor and my seniors, I gradually learned how to read papers, write plans, and understand the principles of experimental instruments. Instrument operation, data analysis, etc. are also carried out in parallel with the usual classroom studies, so my grades have always been among the top three in the department. When conducting research, it is not always smooth. Therefore, when encountering difficulties or bottlenecks, we will help each other and take the initiative to find answers. In the process of asking and discussing, I gained a lot of experience and also gave me more knowledge about experiments. In addition to growing in research, I also learned a lot about how to deal with people. During my college years, I was awarded the two-year National Science Council Undergraduate Research Program, which allowed me to gain a lot of experience in experiments and writing papers. Entering the Department of Materials made me grow a lot. Entering the laboratory to do special research, the experimental training gave me more confidence to solve unknown problems on my own. The process of research and exploration also gave me a clear direction for future career planning. I sincerely recommend all my fellow students to join the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at I-Shou University.
